Retinitis pigmentosa

- characterised by triad of
   - night blindness (loss of rod function)
   - tunnel vision (rod dysfunction)
   - pigmented 'bony spicules'

Important systemic associations
- Abetalipoproteinemia (Bassen Kornzweig syndrome)
- Refsum's disease
- Usher syndrome
- Laurence Moon Biedl syndrome
- Kearns Sayre syndrome
