meralgia parasthetica

- painful mononeuropathy of lateral femoral cutaneous nerve due to focal entrapment of this nerve as it passes through the inguinal ligament.
- lateral cutaneous nerve is a sensory nerve arising from L2, L3 nerve root
- presented with burning sensation or numbness over anterolateral aspect of thigh
- walking or standing aggravates symptoms, sitting tends to relieve them.
- treatment: weight loss, wearing loose clothes, NSAIDs, focal nerve block, surgical decompression
